Noah Thys (°1992, Ghent) discovered music at the age of thirteen, when he taught himself how to play the piano. After finishing high school, he studied piano under Sabine Haenebalcke and went on to study composition at the Royal Conservatory of Ghent, under Dirk Brossé, where he attained the degree of Master of Arts of Music, magna cum laude (2017). In 2021, he completed a classical singing degree, studying under Marcos Pujol and Hilde Verheyen, despite being heavily affected by contracting COVID-19 the year prior. He has followed masterclasses and workshops with The King’s Singers, Ratas del Viejo Mundo, Delphine Galou, Yuval Weinberg, Giuseppe Ravi, Bob Chilcott and Eric Whitacre, among others.
Noah likes to explore different styles, from classic to new media. The interest in the latter has led to all sorts of projects, such as participating in the InMICS (International Master in Composition for Screen) in Bologna, Italy, and creating soundtracks for educational video games, such as Karaton and Stutter Stars. His concert music has been performed internationally, from his hometown in Ghent, to France, Spain, The United States, and South Korea, where women’s choir Amaranthe Oudenaarde won first place during the World Choir Games 2023 with work written especially for them.
Noah has collaborated with artists of various disciplines, such as Hendrik Lasure, Felix Kindermann, Irina Jasnowski Pascual, Dalilla Hermans, Doc Senz, and has performed with ensembles such as SAEVUS, Ex Tempore, The Ghent Singers, the Flemish Radio Choir and Eric Whitacre. In 2021, he became a member of the world-renowned vocal ensemble ANÚNA, with whom he has toured Ireland, Italy, Belgium, The Netherlands, and Japan. Noah also opened the 11th edition of the World Choir Games, in Antwerp (2021), where he shared the stage with Charlotte Campion, RoxorLoops, Charles Dekeyser, Astrid Stockman, and Rocco Granata, among others, and was also a workshop leader for the festival. For the EMJ Neerpelt festival in 2024, he wrote the compulsory work for the competition category C (Slangen door de Stilte, set to text by Paul van Ostaijen).
Several of his works have also been recorded on CD, such as De Waterlelie on the CD Les Flandriens,(Flemish Radio Choir), the string quartet piece, Saifu IV, on Fingerprints #4 (Desguin Quartet), and I shall have had my day on Summer Song (Tallgrass Chamber Choir).
In his free time, Noah is active on social media: you can find him making all sorts of arrangements and “one-man choir” videos; his YouTube channel has amassed over 6.5 million views.

Noah Thys (°1992, Gent) ontdekte de muziek op dertienjarige leeftijd, toen hij zichzelf leerde piano spelen. Na het voltooien van zijn humaniora studeerde hij klassiek piano bij Sabine Haenebalcke en stroomde vervolgens door naar het Koninklijk Conservatorium van Gent, waar hij compositie studeerde bij Dirk Brossé. In 2017 behaalde hij de master, magna cum laude. Datzelfde jaar begon hij een zangopleiding bij Marcos Pujol en Hilde Verheyen en voltooide deze in 2021, ondanks zwaar getroffen te zijn door COVID-19 in 2020. Hij volgde masterclasses en workshops bij o.m. The King’s Singers, Ratas del Viejo Mundo, Delphine Galou, Yuval Weinberg, Giuseppe Ravi, Bob Chilcott en Eric Whitacre.

Sinds 2021 is hij ook lid van het wereldwijd gerenommeerde ensemble ANÚNA, waarmee hij reeds toerde doorheen België, Nederland, Italië, Ierland, en Japan. Eind 2021 opende Noah de 11e editie van de World Choir Games, samen met, o.a., Charlotte Campion, RoxorLoops, Charles Dekeyser, Astrid Stockman, en Rocco Granata. Hij was tevens workshopleider voor dit festival. Voor het festival EMJ Neerpelt schreef hij het plichtwerk voor de wedstrijdcategorie C (Slangen door de Stilte, op tekst van Paul van Ostaijen, 2024).
Enkele van zijn werken werden ook opgenomen op CD, zoals De Waterlelie op de CD Les Flandriens (Vlaams Radio Koor), Saifu, op Fingerprints #4 (Desguin Kwartet), en I shall have had my day op Summer Song (Tallgrass Chamber Choir).
In zijn vrije tijd is Noah ook actief op sociale media: je kan hem bezig zien/horen in allerhande arrangementen en “one-man choir” video’s; zijn YouTube kanaal vergaarde al meer dan 6,5 miljoen hits.
